health & safety

illnesses

Maintaining a healthy environment is extremely important to our centre. We wish to protect all children and educators from illness, infection or contagious disease so we ask that if your child is unwell or showing signs of being unwell, you keep them at home.

Children with severe coughs, head lice, conjunctivitis, diarrhoea, temperatures over 38.5°C, vomiting or other infectious diseases must not be brought into the centre. To reduce the risk of infection we ask that all children who have had diarrhoea or vomiting remain absent from the centre for at least 48hrs after the last bout, and that children whom have been prescribed antibiotics must remain absent for 24hrs after the first dose.

If your child has a sticky eye, rash or any symptoms indicating a possibly contagious condition and you wish them to attend the centre, you must present a medical certificate stating your child's condition is not contagious.

If your child is not well enough to partake in all centre activities including outdoor play and water play, they are not well enough to be at the centre.

If your child is unable to attend please phone the centre before 8.00am notifying the educators of your child's absence. If your child shows signs of illness during the day they will be observed and parents or alternative emergency contacts will be called. You will be expected to collect your child as soon as possible, to minimise the spread of illness and to protect other children and educators.
